FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Gleaners is an organization that takes unmarketable vegetables and dices, dehydrates and packages them for soup mixes. These soup mixes are then used to feed hungry people, both locally and internationally.

    There are presently 2 organizations in Alberta, 3 in BC, and 3 in Ontario.

    Recognizing that the Southern Manitoba region has been blessed by Creator God with the necessary resources, financial capability of many, and a mission-minded people who willingly support and volunteer, a group of men assembled and SOUTHMAN GLEANERS was born.

    A property has been purchased and renovations are ongoing to make sure that all levels of government standards are met.

    We are located at 24 Reinfeld Street, Reinfeld MB R6W 1L3

    Based on information from other Gleaners like us, these are the numbers we expect:

    Daily Production: 3,000 lbs for a total of 600,000 lbs annually

    After drying, it comes to about 90,000lbs

    1 bag serves 100 people, so we expect to make 3,000,000 servings per year.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

    Our current financial needs are:

    Dyhydrator $350,000

    Used Dicer $45,000

    Used Truck $40,000

    Electric Forklift $30,000

    Shop Upgrades $30,000

    Monthly Expenses $8,000 (taxes, utilities, supplies, office, transportation, accounting, etc.)

    Monthly Shop Rent $2,000

    Reefer, Cooler (3) $40,000

    To receive a tax-deductible receipt, we invite you to write a cheque to “The Great Commission Foundation” and write “Southman Gleaners” in the cheque memo.

    With the many challenges involved with setting up a program of this scale, we invite you to come alongside us with your financial support. SOUTHMAN GLEANERS is a not-for-profit enterprise, and will also need volunteers to help with the processing of vegetables when productions starts.

    As a Christian organization, we are reminded in James 2:17-18 that we can show our faith by our works.

    Southern Manitoba is blessed with many caring conscientious people willing to lend a hand in various ways. We invite your participation once again in this endeavour.
